Character Dinners...

We went to our first character dinner on our Honeymoon in August of 1997. We were staying at the Contemporary Resort (yes, it was before we had a mortgage, and two kids), and ended up going to Chef Mickey's for dinner one night. We had a good time, and could only imagine bringing our children there at some point in the future...

We usually go to at least one character dinner per trip, and usually a couple of them for a trip that is a week or longer. The meal price is similar to most sit-down locations at Disney World, and the food is usually pretty good. I always say that the price covers the good food for the adults, and the character interaction for the kids...

You do have to be careful, and in fact after a couple of less than desirable experiences at the Crystal Palace we didn't go there last August. The character interactions only work if they stay "on schedule", and sometimes we have felt "rushed" to have our greeting time, and move along. We take solace in the fact that we paid for the interaction, so we usually just tell the waitstaff that we haven't seen this particular character, and they will coordinate getting them over there, so that they can turn the table.

All in all it provides a nice way to get some personalized character interaction, and your little ones will go home to tell all their friends and family that they had dinner with Mickey, or breakfast with Cinderella etc... Here are some pics from our two trips in 2007 that show my kids having fun at the character dinners :)

Vacation Planning DVD

We received our Vacation Planning DVD today... I don't know if we will actually go this year or not, but we like to get the DVD every year. The boys and I like to sit down, and watch it, because it shows a good overview of all the parks, and major attractions...

Disney World Info

The purpose of this blog will be for me to archive my thoughts about how to enjoy a Disney World Vacation. I don't expect to post regularly, but it will be a place for me to direct people to when I hear they are going to Disney...
